Use mats under anything hot and coasters under anything wet. Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Re-oil about twice a year.
Fine checking along end grain is normal in solid timber and often closes again in a wetter month, it is the wood responding to humidity, not a fault. Avoid all-purpose sprays, bleach and silicone polish entirely; they strip an oil finish.
